OUGD405 - Edible Type

In this brief we were to work in small groups and work together to create something edible, Which would have to in some way express the use of typography. We could make any type of food we wanted as long as we incorporated typography into our work.

Our 'edible type' would then be judged on my look and taste along with any other group which had also created something.

In my group we discussed and decided on baking a deep base Berry pie,

We made this relate to typography by creating a stencil which would help us create pastry letters for the top of the pie, which would spell the sentence 'As Nice As Sugar Pie'.

After preparing the fruit for the pie and the pastry we began to work on the letters which would cover our pie. This was probably the most difficult part of making the pie because it was challenging to cut out letters made of soft pastry.

When we had completed the typography pie We took a finished photo to keep and then covered ready for the competition.

After the competition, we got a lot of feed back about our work, mainly about the fruity, cinnamon taste which everyone seemed to like.

I did enjoy working in a small group making the pie, it was good to apply our knowledge of typography to something different.
